While having lunch with my husband today, I fell deep into thought. When I jerked back to reality a few moments later, I noticed that the children were both asleep, the house was quiet, and neither of us was speaking. I saw he was nodding to himself, clearly mulling something over as I had been.
After six years, we had become that dreaded cliché of the couple that doesn’t talk during a meal but it wasn’t out of boredom or hatred or anything negative, it was merely just the first time all day that we were able to sit and think and plan and we got to do it together. And it was okay. We were at peace.
